The basics

What is Artemii?
A chat assistant from Mayfair that writes, researches and builds with you. It can create documents, web pages, designs, code and spreadsheets that open beside the chat, remember what you ask it to, and work with your other Mayfair apps.
How do I sign in?
With your Mayfair ID. There is no separate password for Artemii.
What is the difference between Arlo, Lucian, Orion and Curzon?
They are Artemii's four models. Arlo (3.2) is for quick answers and conversation and is the default, Lucian (3.5) is for hard problem solving, Orion (3.0) is for research, OSINT and analysis of sources, documents and data, and Curzon (3.1) is for design and coding. See Models.
Why did my first message take a while?
To keep costs down, the AI machine switches off when nobody is using it. The first message after a quiet period wakes it. You will see the AI getting ready, and the answer arrives on its own without you retrying. That can take a few minutes.
How old do I need to be?
General use of Artemii is for people aged 16 or over. Direct mode, an optional setting that makes answers more candid, is for adults aged 18 or over and needs your confirmation. See the Terms of Use.
What is Direct mode?
An optional setting for adults aged 18 or over that makes Artemii more candid and blunt, with fewer disclaimers. You confirm that you are 18 or over and accept its terms, and you can switch it off at any time. It changes the tone, not the safety limits. It is unavailable if Mayfair ID marks your account as under 18 or your organisation switches it off. See the Acceptable Use Policy.
Can the AI be wrong?
Yes. Treat answers as a draft and check anything important, especially facts, figures, legal, medical or financial points.
Is there an app for my phone?
Artemii works in your phone's browser and is designed for small screens first. There is no separate app store app yet.

Making things

What are artifacts?
Things the AI makes that you will keep or use: documents, web pages, designs, SVG graphics, code, spreadsheets and diagrams. They open in tabs beside the chat, with version history. See Artifacts.
Can I run code?
JavaScript code blocks in an answer have a Run button. The code runs on your own device in an isolated sandbox with no network access and stops after ten seconds. Python is not available yet.
What file types can I add?
Text, code and data files such as Markdown, CSV, JSON and source code. PDF and Word files are not supported yet. You can attach pictures, but the AI cannot understand them yet.
What is a project?
A place that keeps chats together with files and standing instructions, so the AI starts every chat already briefed.

Search, research and images

Does it search the web?
It can, when web search is switched on for your account. It then searches, reads pages and looks up UK companies, and shows numbered sources under its answer. Web search needs a search provider to be connected, so it is available on request. See Web search and research.
What is deep research?
A longer run where the AI plans questions, searches, reads pages and writes a cited report as a document. It stops at its time and call limits and says so if it did. It needs web search, so it is available on request.
Can it search my own files?
Yes. It finds the relevant passages in the text files in your chat, your project and your other files, and cites them.
Can it make pictures?
Yes, where image generation is switched on for your account. It is available on request. The first picture after a quiet period can take a few minutes while the image machine starts. See Images.
Does it support voice?
Yes. Start a voice call from the chat and talk to Artemii out loud. It uses your browser's own speech recognition and speech output, so it depends on the browser you use.
Can it understand pictures I upload?
Not yet. Image understanding is coming soon.

Memory, privacy and control

Does Artemii remember things about me?
It can remember facts you ask it to, and can learn useful facts from chats of at least four messages if automatic learning is on. Memory is a list of short notes (up to 500 characters each, at most 200), each tagged with its kind and the app that wrote it. You can see everything it remembers, edit or delete any of it, export it, switch memory off, switch automatic learning off, or switch each Mayfair app off or to read-only. Incognito chats never read or write memory. See Privacy and control.
What does it never remember?
A filter refuses to store payment cards and bank details, government IDs, passwords and API keys, and health, immigration, criminal record, abuse, self-harm, sexual, caste and date-of-birth details.
What is incognito?
An incognito chat is not listed in your history or search, does not read or write memory, leaves no activity log entries and does not use connected services unless you opt in. It is deleted when you delete it, and any that remain are deleted within 24 hours. Incognito chats cannot be shared or put in a project.
Where is my data kept?
In Mayfair's own database, tied to your Mayfair ID. The AI runs on rented GPU servers that Mayfair controls. See Security and trust and Sub-processors.
Who can see my chats?
Other people cannot open your chats through Artemii. On a business plan, administrators see usage and storage figures, settings and audit entries, not the content of your chats. Mayfair runs the database that holds your content, so people at Mayfair who operate and secure it can technically reach stored data. Anyone you give a share link to can read what you shared until you revoke it.
Are my messages stored exactly as I sent them?
Yes. Your messages are stored exactly as you send them, with no trimming, rewriting or summarising, so an old chat shows what you wrote. Artemii's replies are stored as the visible text it wrote, apart from its hidden reasoning and a few tidy-ups such as blank lines before the first word. A message over the length limit is refused rather than cut.
Does Artemii storage count against my Mayfair storage?
When pooled storage is enabled for your account, yes. What Artemii stores counts against your Mayfair account storage allowance, which is pooled across your Mayfair apps. Reading, exporting and deleting always work, even when the allowance is full, and nothing is ever deleted automatically. See Data retention and deletion.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. In Settings you can download everything you own, delete everything, clear memory, revoke share links and, with one action, disconnect every connected service and switch every permission off. A few records stay after "delete all": your people record, usage records, the abuse-protection record (which includes a salted one-way hash of your network address), developer API usage totals, today's cap counters and anonymous counters. See exactly what.
Do you store my IP address?
Not in plain form. Abuse limits use a salted one-way hash of your network address, kept in the abuse-protection record and, if you turn Direct mode on, in your acceptance record. A salted hash cannot be turned back into the address. See the Privacy Policy.
Can I share a chat?
Yes. Share a chat or one artifact as a read-only link that anyone with it can open. You can revoke the link at any time. Incognito chats cannot be shared.

Connectors, apps and the extension

What are connectors?
Services you connect to your own account, such as GitHub or a custom MCP server, so the AI can read from and act in them. Anything that changes something asks you first by default. Connectors are available on request and none has been verified against its live service yet. See Connectors.
Can Artemii work inside other Mayfair apps?
The pieces are built: an embeddable assistant panel, app tools that let Artemii act inside an app as you, and a shared memory. Each Mayfair app adopts them one at a time. See Ecosystem.
Is there a Chrome extension?
It is built and tested but is not in the Chrome Web Store yet. It is coming to the Chrome Web Store. See Chrome extension.
Can the extension buy things or type my password?
No. It never types into password, card, one-time-code or similar fields, it asks you before anything that looks like a payment, transfer, post or deletion, and it only touches sites you allow.

Plans and developers

How does usage work?
Your plan gives you a daily and a weekly allowance, shown as percentages. The daily one resets at 00:00 UTC and the weekly one on Monday at 00:00 UTC. See Plans and usage.
How much does it cost?
Plans are coming soon and there are no prices yet. See Plans.
Is there an API?
Yes. It is OpenAI-compatible, so most OpenAI client libraries work by changing the base URL. Service keys are issued by Mayfair administrators. See Developers.
Does the API store my requests?
No. API calls are stateless. Nothing is saved and request text is not logged by the gateway; usage counts are.
Can I put Artemii in my own Mayfair app?
Yes. Add the embeddable panel with one script tag. See Embeddable assistant.
How do I contact you?
Email hello@mayfairmail.com. See Contact. For early access, see Early access.
